Using Adobe Reader

Best way to use a PDF form that you may have received from Advance College

If you have received a PDF form from Advance College, either by email or downloaded from our website, the following information will provide you with the information you need for best use.

Your computer may automatically open PDF files using a browser. Some PDF forms do not work correctly in any browser. You should open them in the Adobe Reader software. This can be downloaded here:

You will first need to save the PDF to a location on your computer.

If the form has been received by email, you will need to look where the attachment is and select the menu option to save it. Depending on your email client, this may be displayed as: Save Attachment; Download; Save As; etc

Usually, you can double-click the PDF form and it will open in Adobe Reader. If it opens in a browser, you will need to perform of couple of extra steps to open it correctly:

  • Locate the PDF form and right-click it to open a menu
  • Locate the Open With menu option
  • Move into the associated side menu
  • Select the Adobe Reader option
Depending on the reader version, it may display as Adobe Acrobat Reader or similar.

Any PDF should be opened using the Adobe Reader app. Browsers can open a PDF, but generally for previewing only. You may have issues printing or filling in forms if the PDF is opened using a browser.
