HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
About this course
This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
This qualification will require renewal after 12 months.
What you will learn
Provision of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) including:
- Airway obstruction due to body position
- Appropriate duration and cessation of CPR
- Appropriate use of an AED
- Chain of survival
- Standard precautions
- How to conduct a visual and verbal assessment of the casualty
Entry Requirements
It is a requirement of this course that students are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least two minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor.
Pathways
Employment pathways into positions which may require individuals to provide a first aid response in a work place setting.
Successful completion of this unit will be eligible for Credit Transfer into a number of Training Package qualifications. Possible further study options may include: HLTAID011, HLTAID012 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting and HLTAID014 Provide Advanced first aid.
Note: This RTO may not offer all qualifications listed above as possible pathways.
Delivery
The course is delivered from 9:30am to 1pm from either our Rosebud or Hastings campuses.
Sessions will run on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
