About this course

The nationally recognised skill set provides entry-level training in safe food handling which will give you the skills and knowledge to use hygienic practices for food safety in all hospitality situations. This course is perfect for those working in or entering the industry.

Pre-reading is a requirement for successful completion of this course.  Your learner guide will be supplied upon confirmation of enrolment.

What you will learn

This course includes the following unit of competency:
SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety

You will learn about:

The Law and the Food Act;
– Australia and New Zealand Food Standards Code;
– HACCP;
– Identifying and reporting poor hygiene practices and hazards;
– Hygiene procedures;
– Contamination, cross-contamination and prevention;
– Food poisoning and bacteria;
– Food and temperatures;
– Hand washing and PPE;
– Safe food handling;
– Cleaning and sanitising.

Entry Requirements

All participants must be able to read, understand and interpret written information.

Delivery

This one day course is delivered from all campuses. Sessions run from 9:30am to 3:00pm.
