About this course

This qualification is delivered through a School Based Traineeship (SBAT) or a workplace Traineeship.  

All participants must be employed with a registered employer and entered into a formal training contract through the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network.

AHCPGD212 Conduct visual inspection of park facilities
AHCPMG201 Treat weeds
AHCSOL203 Assist with soil or growing media sampling and testing
AHCTRF208 Support turf establishment
AHCWHS201 Participate in work health and safety processes
AHCWRK208 Provide information on products and services

Entry Requirements

All participants must:

– Attend a pre-enrolment information session;
– Complete a language, literacy and numeracy assessment;
– Have basic computer and internet skills.
– Be able to read, understand and interpret written information.

Pathways

The following employment pathways may include:

– Assistant gardener or horticulturalist in parks and gardens;
– General garden maintenance;
– Assistant groundsperson.

Note: This RTO may not offer all qualifications listed above as possible pathways.

Delivery

An Advance trainer/assessor will visit the apprentice/trainee at the workplace at least once per month to facilitate training and assessment activities. These visits will be negotiated with the employer.

Duration: 1 year full time or 2 years part time.
