About this course
This introductory course is for participants who want to gain employment in the health and/or community services sector.
It is suitable for participants who have a genuine interest in helping others and a desire to make a difference in their community.
Health and Community service workers are in high demand with several job opportunities
This is a pre-accredited course.
What you will learn
You will learn about:
– Working in the Care industries
– Types of roles and responsibilities
– Understanding the legislative and ethical environment
– Understanding safe work practices
– Cultural awareness, communication skills and skills for working effectively with others
– Employability skills and transferrable skills
– Practical skills (physical fitness)
– Employment preparation including mock interviews with our industry partner.
Entry Requirements
All participants must:
– Be a minimum of 17 years of age;
– Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen;
– Not be attending school;
– Be able to read, understand and interpret written information.

Delivery
This course is delivered 3 days per week for 4 weeks from our Rosebud and Hastings campuses.
Sessions run Wednesday to Friday from 9:30am to 3:00pm.
The assessment in this course involves non-formal classroom-based workshops and practical tasks. Upon successful completion, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Participation.
