CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support

About this course

This qualification provides training to students looking to work in residential aged care facilities and/or as a disabled care worker. It combines two specialisations in one, meaning you will be able to work in both the Aged Care and the Disability Care sectors once qualified.

This qualification can also be undertaken as a Traineeship in the Home and Disability stream.

What you will learn

This qualification includes the following units of competency:

Mandatory participation in 120 hours of Practical Placement.

CHCAGE013 Work effectively in aged care
CHCCCS031 Provide individualised support
CHCCCS038 Facilitate the empowerment of people receiving support
CHCCCS040 Support independence and wellbeing
CHCCCS041 Recognise healthy body systems
CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in health or community services
CHCDIS011 Contribute to ongoing skills development using a strengths-based approach
CHCDIS012 Support community participation and social inclusion
CHCDIS020 Work effectively in disability support
CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically
CHCPAL003 Deliver care services using a palliative approach
HLTINF006 Apply basic principles and practices of infection prevention and control
HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

Entry Requirements

All students must:

– Attend a pre-enrolment information session;
– Be a minimum of 16 years of age;
– Complete a language, literacy and numeracy assessment;
– Have basic computer and internet skills.
– Undertake a Police Check.

Following industry mandates, participants will be required to provide proof of vaccination records and obtain a current flu vaccination.

Individuals with a disability are encouraged to apply.

Pathways

The following employment pathways may include:

– Accommodation support worker;
– Home Care Assistant;
– In-home Respite Worker;
– Personal Care Assistant;
– Disability Care Worker.

Further study pathways include:

– CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support
– CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability

Note: This RTO may not offer all qualifications listed above as possible pathways.

Delivery

This qualification is delivered 2 days per week for 38 weeks from our Rosebud and Hastings campuses.

120 hours of Practical Placement is mandatory and will be arranged by Advance.

Government subsidised concession fee: $94.50*
Government subsidised tuition fee: $472.50*
