AHCSS00074 Agricultural Chemical Skill Set (AusChem)

About this course

This AusChem course is the industry standard for training in chemical use, storage and handling. The course provides the required training for many Industry Quality Assurance Programs and is the requirement to apply for the Victorian Agricultural Chemical Users Permit (ACUP). 

What you will learn

AHCSS00074 – Agricultural Chemical Skill Set consists of the following units of competency:

  • AHCCHM307 – Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases
  • AHCCHM304 – Transport and store chemicals

It covers the skills and knowledge required to transport, handle, store, prepare and apply chemicals and includes:

pest identification, label interpretation, work health and safety, formulation types, weed and pest control application, transport and disposal, preparation and clean up, recording and other procedures.

Entry Requirements
  • Have a basic understanding of how to use a computer.
  • Be able to read, understand and interpret written information.

Education Pathways

This skill set can be recognised for credit transfer into qualifications such as:

  • AHC30722 – Certificate III in Horticulture
  • AHC31024 – Certificate III in Parks and Gardens
  • AHC31124 – Certificate III in Nursery Operations
Assessment

The course is assessed through written questions, demonstration of practical skills and project work.

Upon successful completion, students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the two units.

Students who successfully complete this course will also receive an accredited Auschem certificate. 

Delivery

This course is classroom based and delivered over two days, 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Fee for Service – $350* (full course – 2-day program)

Refresher course – $270* (1-day program) 

*includes AusChem resource book and AusChem certificate.
