AHC31021 Certificate III in Parks and Gardens

About this course

This qualification is delivered through an Australian Apprenticeship.  All participants must be employed in this field with a registered employer and entered into a formal training contract through the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network.

AHCPMG301 Control weeds
AHCPMG302 Control plant, pests diseases and disorders
AHCSOL304 Implement soil improvements for garden and turf areas
AHCTRF309 Implement a grassed area maintenance program
AHCWHS301 Contribute to work health and safety processes

Elective units^:
AHCCHM304 Transport and store chemicals
AHCIRG338 Troubleshoot irrigation systems
AHCPCM305 Implement a plant nutrition program
AHCSOL305 Prepare growing media
AHCWRK309 Apply environmentally sustainable work practices

^Elective units can be customised to suit employer requirements.

Entry Requirements

All participants must:

– Attend a pre-enrolment information session;
– Complete a language, literacy and numeracy assessment;
– Have basic computer and internet skills.
– Be able to read, understand and interpret written information.

Individuals with a disability are encouraged to apply.

Pathways

The following employment pathways may include:

– Council Gardener;
– Horticulturist.

Further study pathways include:

– AHC40416 Certificate IV in Horticulture
– AHC40920 Certificate IV in Conservation and Ecosystem Management

Note: This RTO may not offer all qualifications listed above as possible pathways.

Delivery

An Advance trainer/assessor will visit the apprentice/trainee at the workplace at least once per month to facilitate training and assessment activities. These visits will be negotiated with the employer.

Duration: 3 years full time.
