AHC20422 Certificate II in Horticulture

About this course

This qualification is suitable for entry level participants who are seeking a career as a nursery hand, gardener or grounds person within the horticulture industry.

This qualification can also be undertaken as a Traineeship. 

What you will learn

This qualification includes the following units of competency:

AHCCHM201 Apply chemicals under supervision
AHCMOM203 Operate basic machinery and equipment
AHCNSY201 Pot up plants
AHCNSY203 Undertake propagation activities
AHCPCM201 Recognise plants
AHCPGD201 Plant trees and shrubs
AHCPGD202 Prepare and maintain plant displays
AHCPGD203 Prune shrubs and small trees
AHCPGD206 Conduct visual inspection of park facilities
AHCPMG201 Treat weeds
AHCPMG202 Treat plant pests, diseases and disorders
AHCSOL202 Assist with soil or growing media sampling and testing
AHCWHS201 Participate in work health and safety processes
AHCWRK205 Participate in workplace communications
AHCWRK209 Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices

Entry Requirements

All participants must:

– Attend a pre-enrolment information session;
– Complete a language, literacy and numeracy assessment;
– Have basic computer and internet skills.
– Be able to read, understand and interpret written information.

Following industry mandates, participants will be required to provide proof of vaccination records and obtain a current flu vaccination.

Individuals with a disability are encouraged to apply.

Pathways

The following employment pathways may include:

– Assistant gardener;
– General garden maintenance;
– Assistant groundsperson.

Delivery

This qualification is delivered 2 days per week for 24 weeks from our Mornington campus.

Government subsidised concession fee: $129.00*
Government subsidised tuition fee: $645.00*

*This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government Funding.  Eligibility criteria apply.
