AHC30716 Certificate III in Horticulture

About this course

This qualification is delivered through an Australian Traineeship.  All participants must be employed in this field with a registered employer and entered into a formal training contract through the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network.

AHCMOM304 Operate machinery and equipment
AHCNSY301 Maintain nursery plants
AHCNSY302 Receive and dispatch nursery products
AHCNSY306 Implement a propagation plan
AHCPCM301 Implement a plant nutrition program
AHCPCM303 Identify plant specimens
AHCPGD301 Implement a plant establishment program
AHCWRK305 Coordinate work site activities
AHCWRK309 Apply environmentally sustainable work practices

^Elective units can be customised to suit employer requirements.

Entry Requirements

All participants must:

– Attend a pre-enrolment information session;
– Complete a language, literacy and numeracy assessment;
– Have basic computer and internet skills.
– Be able to read, understand and interpret written information.

Individuals with a disability are encouraged to apply.

– Horticulturalist;
– Nursery Worker (retail/wholesale);
– Groundsperson;
– Parks and Gardens Assistant.

– AHC40320 Certificate IV in Production Nursery
– AHC40620 Certificate IV in Nursery Operations

Note: This RTO may not offer all qualifications listed above as possible pathways.


An Advance trainer/assessor will visit the apprentice/trainee at the workplace at least once per month to facilitate training and assessment activities. These visits will be negotiated with the employer.

Duration: 2 years full time.
